Let’s Take it a Step Back

In a previous blog post, Richard mentioned that using the correct AI/assistant/smart stuff can be beneficial to your day-to-day life. So how do you know what works for you? And being a tech savvy person, how do you start playing with stuff that’s not going to waste your time or money?

What Really Matters?

I can only agree with that statement. Unless a “smart” tool reliably saves minutes (not just offers flashy features), it’s just another admin burden. On the go, those minutes turn into real time saved. And it really needs to work across devices and software to achieve that time saving.

Tools that Show their Potential Everyday

Something that is really helping me save time here and there, especially when I’m super busy or my hands are full “Literally” is the smart stuff on my phone. I carry it everywhere with me; I can schedule my calendar, set reminders, trigger my smart devices, send messages, and so much more! All with my voice. Now you can really dive deep into the rabbit hole or keep it simple, I’d suggest starting small with either Google Assistant (Gemini), Apple Siri or HUAWEI Assistant.

What’s Working for Me (A Day in the Life with a Pocket-sized Sidekick)

“While driving, I scheduled two new meetings, turned on my outside lights, voice to text – replied to WhatsApp messages, set reminders for tasks later that day, got directions to my next meeting, asked general questions, made phone calls… all with my voice, I didn’t even need to touch the screen.”

The Takeaway

It needs to be fast, easy, and user-friendly.  There are a few nitty gritty things that could be better, but overall, once you play with it a little bit, it really helps a lot. You might sound like a mad man arguing with your phone for the first week, and you’re going to draw some funny faces staring at you.  But once you nail it down, doing some of those tasks manually seems outdated and tedious.

People also then look at you in surprise, asking how the hell did you do that?
